A Little Introduction

Hi Doves,
As you know, I’m Jenna and I’m your Delta Psi Delta Health and Wellness Chair for the 2022-2023 year. I was recently made aware of this blog, and I’m super excited for all of us to share our thoughts and experiences!
I thought I’d start with a little introduction. I’m in my third year of aging and society specializing in mental health and addictions. I’ve always been passionate about mental health awareness. I also believe in our fast-paced, stressful world, health is something that is often pushed aside in favour of school, work, and life in general. It’s so easy for days and weeks to slip by without checking in with yourself, analyzing how you’re feeling, and taking care of your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs.
So, for my first post, I challenge you to start taking a moment each day to check in with yourself briefly. All it really takes is a minute to ask yourself a few questions…
“How am I feeling today?” = Are you exhausted, energized, or somewhere in between? Are you relaxed or overwhelmed? Are there emotions that you’re ignoring or suppressing?
“What is my body telling me?” = Maybe your stomach is growling because you skipped lunch to study, or you have a headache after being on your phone for hours without taking a break. Our bodies are always trying to tell us something.
“What is something small I can do today to maintain my health?” = It could be anything from stretching to drinking more water to going to bed a bit earlier. There are so many little ways we can show ourselves kindness and support.
Again, I’m pumped to be here. Writing is one of my favourite things to do, so you can count on me to keep this blog active! I hope I get to hear from all of you insightful, creative, beautiful people as well.
